What it costs
Annual price: £59.99 a year or £ a month or £ per quarter**.
Prices include all fees and Insurance Premium Tax (IPT)
There is an initial period when you are not covered, giving you cover in your first year, therefore the Effective Cost of Cover is a month.
What is an Emergency?
An emergency is defined as sudden and unforeseen damage to the internal plumbing or drainage or underground external drains which immediately:
- exposes you to a risk to your health; or
- creates a risk of loss of or damage to the property or
- makes the building uninhabitable.
An uncontrollable internal emergency is where you can't temporarily stop the incident from causing further immediate internal damage (i.e. by turning the water off or not using the facilities).
What's covered?
- Internal cover - up to £2,000 per claim for plumbing and drainage emergencies inside your home, up to 2 claims per policy period
- External cover - up to £4,000 per claim for blocked or collapsed drains, up to 2 claims per policy period
- Up to £500 towards hotel accommodation - in the event that your home is uninhabitable for 48 hours or more.
What's not covered?
- Claims not reported via the Homeserve 24-Hour Claims Number Emergency Hotline and not authorised by Homeserve in advance
- Flats, Commercial and Council, or Housing Association properties
- Underground water supply pipe outside your home
- Shared drainage facilities (sewers) outside the property boundary
- Non-emergency problems, such as dripping taps & leaking overflows.

Who needs this cover?
This cover meets the needs of homeowners who require insurance and expert assistance in the event of a plumbing or drainage emergency at their domestic property.
What is Effective Cost of Cover?
All policies do not normally allow new customers to claim in the first 14 or 28 days (please see individual Summary of Covers for each policy for further details). This is to prevent claims for previously known problems which in turn helps us to keep the annual cost of the policy as low as possible.
The normal price quoted is for a full year but when we take off the initial no claim period in the first year you get either 11 or 11 ½ months cover. The ECC is therefore the monthly price for the period over which you can claim. It is calculated by dividing the annual premium by either 11 or 11 ½ months based depending on the specific no claim period.
The no claim period is only applicable to the first year of cover.
